French artist/illustrationist Erle Ferroniere's beautiful fantasy artwork is simply charming. The Slavic tales of Babayaga are numerous and varied. In some times, she flies around in a mortar & rides a pestle. Not very often does she ride her broomstick which is made from Silver Birch.  BabaYaga is depicted as a diverse individual, although she is described as a terrifying old witch, she is still wise and powerful; wild, cruel but sometimes also very kind. BabaYaga makes a link between the wise women of early myths and the witches of the folk or fairytales. Erle Ferronniere's delightful piece has her more on the modern side, with her black cat cradled in her arms, and her bag waving in the wind as she swiftly rides to those who call for her help. Babayaga  ( The Wise Witch)has been beautifully translated for the experienced cross stitch artist by Annaick Chauvel in this delightful design worked on 32 count linen.
