Georgia Ball’s treasured designs for the stitchery artist employ unique stitches and tulled appliques, giving her artwork a dimensional feel. This picture depicts many possessions of the Plains Indians. The headdress, peace pipe, and moccasins with quilled tops and beaded edges are Sioux. The Tipi with all its symbolic markings is Blackfoot; the red bottom of the Tipi represents earth, circles are for the falling stars, the red peaks are the mountians, the black top is for the night skies with ovals representing Great Bear and Pleiades Conctellations, while the maltese cross is the morning star. The broken arrow in the foreground means peace. A magnificent stitchery in crewel yarn, accented with embroidery floss, pompons, and beading. A lovely, timeless, piece of history you’ll enjoy displaying for a lifetime!
