We’re so pleased to be able to present this long out of production design for the crewel embroidery enthusiast. The Hanukkah Story  is the center of this handsome design worked in rich, golden colors against a deep blue background. Showcasing traditional Jewish symbolic worked in cotton flosses with metallic threads to give soft, glimmering accents to this beautiful inspirational design.  This long out of production design arrived in overly shopworn packaging which has been replaced to keep piece clean and ready to work.

The Hanukkah Story

Long ago, a wise king ruled Palestine. His subjects,
both Jews and Syrians, were given religious
freedom to worship as they pleased.

But the wise king died and Antiochus, the new king,
said they must worship pagan gods or die.
 The outraged Jews, led by Judah Maccabee, armed them-
selves for conflict. The men were untrained,
but the Lord strengthened them and they were victorious.

The priests then cleaned the defiled temple for the
rededication or HANUKKAH, but found they
only had one flask of the sacred oil left...only
enough for one day.
But the menorah continued to burn for eight days
and eight nights.

Today the miracle of HANUKKAH is celebrated
with happiness. One candle is lighted each
day for eight days to symbolize the renewal of faith
and freedom.
