In Victorian times, a young lady would show off her needlework skills by stitching samplers that displayed the many different types of stitchery she was required to learn.  Linda Bird’s sampler of Victorian Finery is a modern representation of that tradition, showing us four small pictures of the accessories needed to complete a Victorian Lady’s outfit.  There is a delicate rose-covered fan, a tiny bottle of violet toilet water, and an elegant little change purse.  The final items in the sampler are two high-heeled shoes, and the entire picture is framed by a border of deep red roses and black and gold lace.  You'll used various beads and a gold tone charm to embellish this piece which is worked in cotton flosses on 28 count antique white cashel linen fabric. Absolutely beautiful.
