Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema's artistry made him one of the most famous and well-paid  painters of the late 19th century. Part of the Royal Academy with the likes of Alfred Waterhouse and Joseph Wright, this distinguished artist also became part of the Order of Merit. He left behind an exquisite set of masterpieces to enjoy, and we are pleased and proud to present this piece originally entitled " A Coign of Vantage" which has been carefully rendered by the DMC Ultimate Collection for the experienced cross stitch artist.
Painted in 1895, this piece shows three Roman women watching from the high vantage point of a terrace on the cliff as Roman ships returned home. The corner (Coign) , they're peering over has  perfect view of the galleys as their loved ones and others return from their voyages.  Your finished masterpiece will have the same sunny feel as the original; Sir Lawrence's work has a light, soft sunlight one can almost feel just by viewing these beauties waiting for their friends and family to return.
You'll work on Zweigart 28 count Evenweave in smooth DMC cotton floss to create this masterpiece; truly one worthy of adding to your own artwork reproduction collection. Absolutely lovely!
