Blanche Virgien was a master of needlework design who believed in using only the finest quality materials for her work, because, as she said, “I believe your stitching efforts, as mine, deserve no less.”  And in this impeccably detailed design for the crewel embroidery enthusiast, her love of quality work shines through.  Each red berry seems almost real enough to eat, while the dainty flowers in the basket seem almost real enough to have a scent.  Blue morning glories are nestled in there with an apple, a pale pear, and juicy-looking blueberries with just enough red leaves to give the whole grouping a bright pop of color.  The basket is soft shade of tan that nearly blends into the background, letting the fruit and flowers take center stage.
