By 1900, Frederic Remington was given to mourning the passing of his beloved Wild West and, in this mood, he painted this stirring tone on tone study, The Cow Puncher. This working cowboy and his horse make a dramatic bid for the viewer's attention as they come to a skidding halt in a cloud of dust. In 1901, Collier's Weekly  reproduced the painting for  its September 14, 1901 cover. Accompanying the picture was a verse intended to sound like a eulogy by Owen Wister,  which later was changed to become a tribute to the cow punch's enduring appeal :

" He rides the earth with hoofs of might,
His is the song the eagle sings;
 Strong as the eagle's, his delight,
For like his rope, his heart hath wings."

Beautifully, and simply reproduced for the counted cross stitch enthusiat, you'll work with a deep sepia toned palette to create this timeless artwork reproduction.
