Lydia Marie Child's childhood remembrance Poem originally appeared in her Flowers for Children, Volume 2, in 1844. It celebrates her childhood memories of visiting her Grandfather's House. Perhaps the most well known verse of the original six verses is the very first one :

Over the river, and through the wood,
To Grandfather's house we go;
the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
through the white and drifted snow.

The word Grandmother is often substituted, especially in the version which is read for Christmas. This beautiful piece for the counted cross stitch enthusiast, is the inimitable Nancy Rossi's interpretation of the poem. "To Grandmother's House We Go" has a timeless vintage postcard field. A couple merrily rides their two horse open sleigh; a dog runs enthusiastically alongside. They've cross the river, and passed through a cheery red covered bridge; it looks like a lovely day for a visit.

You'll work on 14 count Aida fabric with smooth cotton flosses to create this nostalgic design. Suitable for display all winter long, this treasure is certain be a favorite year after year.
