Thomas Trevelyon's "The Commonplace Book" is a significant source for more than 500 illustrations of lavish medieval and Elizabethan embroidery designs. Lush, trailing vines, animals and insects of every sort, trees and fruits all live forever in these illustrations courtesy of Henry Clay Folger and his Wife Emily Jordan Folger, by their gift of the Folger Shakespeare Library to humanity. This unique and inspiring Tree of Life is one of the earliest depictions in embroidery, and is adapted from the Museum's rare collection of early seventeenth century embroidery designs. You'll work on linen in colorful and lustrous Persian wool yarns to create this historic design. Truly a must have one of a kind design for the traditional embroideries collector.
