James Vick started producing seed catalogues in the 1860’s, and in 1878 he began publishing an illustrated monthly magazine, which is now an important source for horticulture historians. The popular periodical which was published for thirty years featured Vick’s chatty prose and how-to tips for the garde and news of horticultural society meetings.
