Rare Wentzler Renaissance Angels Cross Stitch Kit Advanced

 

A procession of colorfully garbed angels marches single-file, each playing a different musical instrument: drum, french horn, mandolin, oboe, harp and hand bells. A royal blue border accented with different specialty stitches, metallic fiber, and gold beads surrounds the heavenly musicians. Teresa Wentzler is quoted as saying that this particular design is fairly large, and should be considered medium to difficult, a design for the experienced cross stitch enthusiast. Inspired by the brightly colored mosaics still preserved in several Byzantine churches located in the Middle East, she's made the style of the figures definitely more Renaissance than Byzantine; she says she wanted to show lots of movement and vitality. Wentzler's comments indicate that the border was an experiment of sorts: she kept adding decoration to the dark blue background, until finally, it seemed finished. All in all, we think the effect is dazzling!
