Elsa Williams said of this piece that it reminded her of an illustration in a fairy tale. Originally used as the central motif from the cover of a piano / hearth bench created and embroidered by Mrs. Edward Harding of Dover Mass, the piece was showcased in Elsa's 1967 Heritage Embroidery. Afternoon of a Fawn in worked on linen twill in celery greens, vibrant blue, cranberry pinks and antique gold .
